stereotyping

One of my students wrote this today (bless his heart)
Today I realized that lots of people stereotype people but don't care. It amazes me how racist some people are. People think that Americans are fat because of the people they saw when they went to some big city there but they also saw the skinny people but just didn't take notice because they wanted to see fat Americans so they could talk about it at home. We judge people by our own standards, we judge people by the norm (which is always the person who is judging) so that anyone not like us is unnormal. People who are racist don't always think that they are, they think that their opinion is based on facts that hold up what they're saying, when really all they're doing is lying to themselves. I think that racism is a huge problem still today.

Scott's mom and sister come tonight!
