back?

I've been thinking lately about writing on this here blog again. I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it's that Scott is having fun with his blog here. And there's the fact that life will be changing pretty significantly for the M and S V.Ks in the near future. Change causes one to look inward and backward, sometimes. That said, a return to this blog means that I've been thinking a bit about what's happened in life since my last post on September 27, 2009. A lot and not much is the short version.

The biggest thing that has happened is that my dad no longer teaches at Dordt. That development has meant some pretty big changes in my parents' lives, and therefore our lives. They moved to Edmonton, Alberta, because my dad got a brand, shiny new job at the King's University College, teaching education. Their house is for sale, but hasn't sold yet.

The fact that my parents' house hasn't sold yet meant that they needed to make a decision about what to do with it. Scott and I decided to rent it, meaning a move around the corner for us. But it's a big house, and we also decided that we needed roommates, so we asked our friends Andrew and Lynda if they wanted to live with us. They did, and we've been living together since they got back from their honeymoon in November. It's been good.

The other big change is that Scott is graduating from Dordt (yay!) in a few weeks and we have decided where to move next! On the day after graduation he will pack up a few belongings in his parents' car and head on up to Winnipeg where he will start his own shiny new job as a graphic designer at a printing company while living with his parents for a few weeks. I'll finish my school year, and then we'll move our belongings up mid-June. In the meantime, Scott will hopefully have been able to find us apartment. Operation moving back to Winnipeg is underway!

So that's the a lot part. The not much part is that I'm still teaching at the same school, and life has otherwise remained somewhat the same, although many of our friends and all of my family have moved away from S.C. in the past year. So it's the same but not. Funny how life works like that.
