I seem to have lost Sister Sarah. Now don't be deceived by my skillful alliteration: Sarah is not a nun. She is my dear sister, and she seems to have disappeared from the blogging world. I don't know what to do. I even sent her an email that I thought would surely inspire her to communicate with us lowly people on the West Coast (namely, myself) but to no avail. If you see my sister Sarah tell her I miss her.
Sara P and I met a guy from Russia yesterday. His name is Konstantin. We went to Sara's relative's church in Ladner because she said that this amazing local hero who went on the Sea to Sea with the CRC (they biked across Canada to celebrate the centenial of the CRC in Canada) was going to do an amazing speech. Turned out it was Konstantin, who did not speak in church, and that we were expected to go to some birthday party!? The birthday party was for a guy named Jason who has downs syndrome. It was pretty fun although we didn't know anyone, but Konstantin was there so we got to know him a little. Then Sara and I were going to go to Granville Island, so we invited Konstantin along and then proceeded to have a fun-filled afternoon walking around Granville Island, drinking chai, and learning about what it was like to live in Russia under a communist government. Then we all went to the Constant Gardener, which I've been wanting to see for a while. It was quite excellent--it made me anxious (I think that's what it was supposed to do, with the shaky handheld camera.) So now Sara and I have a Russian friend. He's going to take us hiking up Grouse Mountain sometime soon I think.
Sara is going to come over in a few hours so that we can watch Hotel Rwanda--we're continuing our horror in Africa theme, so I need to get some work done before she comes. I'm turning into a responsible and hopefully employable person these days. Hope you are all well. School is going better every day--last week was really hard.
