sunshine

Ahhh, 11:30 on a Saturday morning and I'm still in my pajamas. Nice.

Yesterday was a professional development day for teachers in B.C., so I went to the annual B.C. Teachers of English and Language Arts conference with my co-humanities teacher. In Richmond, which involves going through a tunnel under the Fraser River--so cool. It was a good conference--lots of practical ideas for differentiation, and some more good ideas for humanities 9. And also a very engaging poetry reading by Carl Leggo--Sarah do you know who he is? He's from Newfoundland originally, and now teaches at UBC. He's very into writing autobiographically, and he is also quite obsessed with his relationship with his father. He has hair down to his waist.

Scott and I went to see Little Miss Sunshine on Thursday night. Excellent. It made me laugh, and then cry, and then laugh again. Scott thought that some of the parts were a little over the top, but I thought that the ridiculous/funny bits were not at all out of the range of the characters' motivations and personalities. So good. Poignant--that's a good word, I think.

I'm going to bring my bicycle in to get fixed today, I think. The front brakes have been unhooked since I got here, and I'm afraid to go down hills without brakes. Because Abbotsford is on the sides of a few mountains--literally

I greatly enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine. Especially the hooker dance. And I'm in a play with your little brother and he is one cool kid.

yeah, I know. The older he gets, the more I like him. (Don't tell him I said that.)
