checking

I keep calling school, hoping that there will be a message on the answering machine that says that school is cancelled tomorrow. We had a snow day today, and the wind has picked up out here on the Sumas Prairie (Scott and I live in the lowest part of Abbotsford, which has been drained in order to allow for ample farm land. It is also trecherous out here whenever it snows--blizzards and white-outs.) Today a six foot drift accumulated at the end of our driveway. Unless there is a big change in weather, or a snow plow comes through right before I want to leave in the morning, we probably won't be getting our cars out tomorrow. This wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that I need to make sub plans in case I can't make it to school. We're supposed to start reading the _Chrysalids_ in English 10 tomorrow, and I wanted to be there to introduce it. Ah, my stomach is getting butterflies just thinking about this. Okay, off to call the VP to tell him I probably won't be able to make it tomorrow.

oh, to have a snow day! i can understand the anxiety that goes along with it though. it's funny how being a teacher suddenly makes you think that what you need to teach absolutely has to happen, or the students will be devastatingly behind.
oh well, less than a month until a break and you guys will be here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't the weather wonderful? Makes me think of Winnipeg and wish I was there and didn't have to write this paper I should be writing but am not writing because I am writing this comment...
Snow kicks rain's ass any day.
We should hang out sometime. Maybe not till January though.

I'm jealous.
For the record it is now very cold, but the snow is beautiful...only we didn't get a snow day out of it.
I took my kids outside for our last class yesterday and we cleared the snow off of all the cars in the parking lot. It was crazy. I was soaked. And I discovered that wet khakis are see-through. A little thigh for the 10 year olds! Sadly the cars were covered again by the time most of the staff left school, but the kids loved it and it's the thought that counts.
Back to report cards...
