Today marks the completion of my second day back at school--it is one week from today until school starts. I have encountered the return of lack of caffeine headaches. What is it about school that requires caffeine? I weaned myself off of coffee during this past month, and then as soon as I have to start getting up early again, I get a headache. Sheesh. Maybe it's the fumes that are still lingering from the re-doing of our gym floor. Maybe.
I'm pretty excited to go back to school, actually. I'm finding that I have a much better idea of what is going on, which is good, but also since I have a better idea, I have way grander plans for what I want to do. But I'll probably have to face the fact that I'm just not a master bulletin-board-maker. I found this old map of the world from 1989, and was thinking about making a then/now bulletin board. That could be pretty cool.
Right now I'm all engrossed in this formative/summative assessment thing that we're talking about at school. I might get to go to a conference in Oregon in December. Hopefully--there are six other people that also want to go, and it will cost the school $700/person. But I was one of the first people to express interest, so I think that my chances are high. That would be pretty exciting.
Oh, and we have a new principal! So far I like him a lot. I think that he's going to challenge our staff to grow in ways that are needed. And we have school email addresses now! It's exciting. Yay school!
I feel like this whole post is one big exclamation mark.

We have a full day in service on authentic assessment tomorrow. Arlis Folkerts is leading it. I will send you a copy of the handouts!
Hope you have a great second year.
you should go back on the coffee. do you know that it is good for you? 2 cups a day helps with memory retention and there are other benefits as well.
