summer 2008

Tomorrow is labor day, which means that this summer is over tomorrow. It's strange to think about where Scott and I were at the beginning of the summer. Since the end of June we have:
  • moved half-way across the continent
  • moved in with my parents
  • attended/participated in the weddings of my two brothers
  • attended Scott's grandpa's funeral
  • made two trips to Winnipeg and back
  • imported our car
  • traveled to Virginia and back
  • moved into our own little house
  • started three new jobs between the two of us
  • made some new friends and reacquainted ourselves with some old ones
That's a lot of stuff. And so, for those of you who prefer pictures, I'll try to find pictures for most of those events:

This isn't a picture of us moving, but of our nephew, Oliver. We spent as much time with the B.C. Vande Kraatses as we could in the few months before we left. Consider this a picture in memory of our move (since we don't have any of the actual move--strange how that happens.)

Our space in my parents' basement.

Daniel cringing at the impending rain on his wedding day. Ah, outdoor weddings (we had two of them this summer.)

Our new house.

Trip number one to Winnipeg.

A day at Dave's (Scott's friend) cabin.

Like mother like son.

Vande Kraats family picture. Apparently Mom and Pop were the only ones who got the memo.

Waiting in the airport on the way to Virginia. Traveling with eight people (two of them over 70) is harder than you might imagine.

The dock close to the site of brother number two's wedding.

My grandpa and step-grandma.

John being . . . John.

Trip number two to Winnipeg. We drove through some pretty crazy hail storms in Southern Manitoba.

The end. Back to work on Tuesday.

Great shots! You have to send me the large version of that "family photo." I love it and want to print it. We just got back from a weekend in the Whiteshell. It was lovely. Hot, sunny and windy until today. Talk to you soon! :)

You know, when you make a list like that, your summer does sound quite crazy! :) Hope you're settling into life that's a little more relaxed.

Hey, I've got an idea for your next blog post - a virtual tour of your new home! I'd love to see the inside, not just the outside (although that looks cute :).

Missing you.
