Sorry for that somewhat depressing post last night.
I just poured a cup of coffee from my new shiny red thermos. Yes, that's right, I have a thermos. I like it a lot. And now I can drink good coffee all day long, not that yucky school coffee. And best of all, Scott bought it for me. What would I do without him? (Besides buy my own thermos?)
It's Friday afternoon and I have my prep. It's nice not to have to teach during the last block of the day on Fridays because that's when the kids go crazy. My grade tens tried to pull that one on me today--I have them after lunch on Fridays. They said, "it's Friday" (implying that they shouldn't have to work on Friday.) I replied, "I don't care what day it is. Now, when you say it's Friday, do you need an apostrophe?" Oh children.
Have any of you seen the movie about Marie Antoinette that just came out? We're starting the French Revolution in Humanities class on Monday, and I'm curious about whether it would be worth showing.
It's four weeks until spring break!

probably not. i have a feeling anything with kirsten dunst isn't fit for classroom viewing.
though...might be on their intellectual level. not too complicated. transparent acting. easier to understand for them highschool kids.
ya know.
You know Amanda has that reaction to Fridays as well. Always an apostrophe and Monday could just as well have a mushroom cloud next to it for her. I basically live in a week full of Fridays so it no longer has any special meaning to me. It also means I'm really lazy . . . And yes, school coffee is AWFUL
we just watched it last night. i liked it and disliked it at the same time. it's more stylized and impressionistic than historically accurate. and it really is about marie antoinette's life and emotions, and much less about the politics that were going on at the time. the revolution only comes in a tiny bit at the end, and even then it's unclear.
we watched "a tale of two cities" for the french revolution in gr. 10--that was burned into my memory, i think. maybe check that one out?
I agree, Sarah. I watched Marie Antoinette yesterday and was not impressed. The acting wasn't even very good. I think that I'll be searching for A Tale of Two Cities. We'll watch part of it, at least.
margaret--
band tour is coming through your town. I talked to josh. and autumn is my tour buddy. I think we will be in that general area around the 17th 18th 19th. that weekend-ish.

Sweet, we're talking March, right? If so, that's at the beginning of my spring break. I'll email you right away.
