Yesterday was the last day of class. I kept my students attentive by waiting to tell them some important bits of information about the exam until the last day. Seemed to work. Now: nine days of marking/supervising exams/cleaning my classroom/helping clean up the school/meetings/report cards/getting some plans for next year started . . . and I'm sure the list goes on. Well, that's eight days now, since today was one of the nine, which I spent getting my Humanities 9 exam ready. I didn't think that it would take so long to write an exam--I've had it on the slow burner for a few weeks already, actually. But it'd done, and I think it's a fair evaluation of everything we've learned this year. I hope, that is.
I don't think I could do an office job. After sitting all day working at the computer, I got home all grumpy and restless--not enough energy spent during the day. So we went for a bike ride.
Oh bike rides, let me tell you about bike rides with Scott. Instead of illegally biking on the sidewalk like the rest of us, he insists on biking with the flow of traffic. He's right--you really should bike with traffic, not on the sidewalk. But it can, at times, be frightening. Especially when the traffic doesn't really know what to do with the bikes traveling with them. Frightening, but fun.
No homework tonight, and I think I'll call it a night. Tomorrow: mark exams, (after they write them in the morning) and finish all the other odds and ends of marking that has piled up. Thursday: begin writing report cards. My, this is exciting!

Biking has become one of my favorite pastimes. Maybe you could introduce me to extreme biking in Abbotsford. Good luck!
yay! you're almost done.
Scott must have got that biking thing from Gabe. When Gabe visited me in Chicago once, he made us go biking on the streets too. It was scary. I got stopped by two policemen and they gave me a lecture. I didn't do that again.
I think Scott got the have to bike on the road thing from me. I'm scared of the road but feel guilty on the sidewalk. Now when I'm driving I look at all the bikes on the sidewalk and am starting to let myself do it too. Today I biked to school over Kildonan Drive to the green strip. This is perfect. No traffic, beautiful scenery and only about 5 minutes longer. Maybe its all in chosing the right routes.
