1. No, I don't give extra credit. The best way to pull up your mark at this point in the semester is to make sure that you've handed in all your assignments (have you handed in all your assignments? Well you might want to work on that!) and study hard for your exam.
2. What do you need to get on the exam to get an A? I have no idea. Do I look like I'm good at math? You should be studying hard and doing as well as you can on the exam, anyway.
3. Please don't compare your mark on the group project to other groups. Just because you got one mark less than that group doesn't mean that I'm saying that your project sucked. Besides, I don't compare students to each other, anyway.
Ha, here's one funny thing: yesterday a group of my grade nine boys did their Romeo and Juliet performance for the class. The project they designed was to make a sound track for what they thought Romeo would be thinking during some of the major scenes, and to act those scenes out. One of the guys had the role of lip syncher. Yes, that's right, he poured his heart out lip synching (how do you spell that, anyway?). They even borrowed the music teacher's electric guitar. Anyway, one of the songs they picked has the line "you are beautiful" (not sure who that is) and the lip syncher danced over to me and kneeled down. It was pretty stinking funny.
Five more days of class.

I think it's a sign you're a good teacher when you have your students kneeling in front of you.
"What do you need to get on the exam to get an A? I have no idea. Do I look like I'm good at math?"
if a highschool teacher of mine would've ever said this to me, they likely would have been my favourite teacher.
Well I didn't say "do I look like I'm good at math" but I did say "I have no idea."
OK OK OK,
Your an English teacher who has commented on peoples grammar on your blog and your asking how to spell a word?!?
Tsk tsk tsk! :)
I think you would have been my favourite teacher anyways Margaret - my English teachers often were. I'm back in Edmonton now and I got the invitation in the mail two days ago; I'm currently scheming up a plan to make it down to Iowa, but I promise I'll RSVP on time one way or the other.
sounds like a fun class! you...you're good, you.
Am I right in thinking classes are finished? 1 year almost finished. Well done! Happy exam marking :)
